DUMB FRIENDS LEAGUE HARMONY EQUINE CENTER SEEKING VOLUNTEERS
Interested volunteers invited to open house on July 21

DENVER (July 7, 2016) The Dumb Friends League is looking for volunteers for its Harmony Equine Center to help care for homeless horses and other equines. Those interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer at the Harmony Equine Center are invited to attend an open house and orientation session on July 21 to learn more about the facility and available opportunities.

On Thursday, July 21, from 5–7 p.m., the Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center will be hosting an open house for anyone interested in volunteering at the center. During the two-hour orientation, prospective volunteers will get an overview of the services provided at the Harmony Equine Center, learn about various volunteer opportunities, take a tour of the facility and talk with staff and current volunteers. In addition, the normal $25 volunteer application fee will be waived for anyone who applies to be a volunteer during the open house.

To volunteer at the Harmony Equine Center, you must be at least 16 years old, pass a background check and be able to commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week for 3 months. Those interested in attending the open house are encouraged to RSVP by July 18 at ddfl.org. Please note, the open house is specific to volunteering at the Harmony Equine Center only, and will not include information about general volunteer opportunities at the Dumb Friends League’s other locations.

Since opening in 2012 in Franktown, Colo., the Harmony Equine Center has provided care to more than 700 formerly abused and neglected horses and other equines. It is a private rehabilitation and adoption facility for horses, ponies, donkeys and mules that have been removed from owners’ care by law enforcement authorities. The Harmony Equine Center also serves as a centralized hub where horses from humane societies and rescue groups in the Midwest and southwestern United States can receive training and re-homing.

To learn more about the Dumb Friends League Harmony Equine Center or to view horses available for adoption, visit ddfl.org/equine. For information about all volunteer opportunities with the Dumb Friends League, visit ddfl.org/volunteer or call (303) 751-5772.
